"RELIANT CITY"

Astro Arena

The Arena had a pretty well equipped medical facility. I got over to take a few pictures as they were taking it down before all the evacuees moved in.

Pretty much had all kinds of clinics and such. Pretty extensive.

Processing area for evacuees. All manned by volunteers when it was working.

The central arena area. It is flanked by several show halls. This was the last area to be filled up.

Show Hall C. This was where we moved the sick and special needs folks. It was actually much quieter than the dome, better for sleeping.

Hall B. It is in the process of being set up for the next group of folks from the dome.

Rows of cots. I thought they made a nice picture.

The day care facility. It was originally in Hall C, but was moved into another one. I want to say it was D.

It was really well set up, and was really appreciated by the parents of the small kids.

You can tell by the hand made signs this was not something they had a lot of time to plan.

A briefing area for those needing to sign up for benefits.

Setting up the cots. The red cross did a LOT of work during this deal.

Cleaning up the dome after everyone moved to the Arena.

The message signs again, I think this will be one of the most enduring images I have of the experience.

Left over strollers and infant car seats.

All the cots being thrown into a large dumpster. The red cross does not reuse cots, they just dump em.

We gathered a few shopping carts as well. From every store in the area.

A view from up on the 9th floor again. an empty floor, except for the trash.

Another view from the 9th floor.

This one is kind of an inside story here, it was the only working coke machine in the entire building. We found it, it's ours!!!!

The last shot I took. My last time in the dome. It's about three in the morning and I've still got six hours to go on my shift.
