Thanks To My Enemy By Milton E. McKinney © aka Breaktrack.
I have to thank someone right now and it’s very hard to do. Mainly because I can’t believe I’m really thanking you. It seems you’ve done some wonderful things even though it seems absurd. But thanks to you and your evil message I finally got the word.
It seems I was asleep you see, and needed to be awake. But please believe I wasn’t alone, there were others for heavens sake. We all were living regular lives just going on day to day. But then we heard what evil was, and what it had to say.
There were warriors coming home each day, to find their final rest. They’d made the final sacrifice; they took their final test. And all alone their families wept while we all went our way, Till something caused us to wake up and now that’s how we’ll stay.
Evil ones were saying things so vile and so untrue, They chanted, sang and shouted trying to dishonor, too. They placed their feet upon the flag that keeps them safe at night, And luckily we all awoke when we saw that evil sight.
We will honor each and every one, from now on till the last, And shield their loved ones from the members of that evil cast. No warrior will come home again to a lonely silent night. No warrior will be forgotten coming home from that final fight.
I know we should have been awake right from the very start. We’ve no excuse for waiting till you stabbed us in the heart. But now we’re here and here we’ll stay to keep you all at bay. Between the evil and the heroes we are here to stay.
So take your signs and go on home and put them in the trash. You are no longer needed here, nor your words so brash. You shocked us into action; you brought us to the fight, Your evil words and desecration made us see the light.
So stand up tall and silent now for all the heroes there, Now we need to show the world just how much we really care. And let us thank our enemy, the ones who talk so much, Without whom we’d still be asleep, completely out of touch.
Thank you for abusing all the precious rights so dear, Thank you for making what I needed to be doing so very clear. Thank you for making evil so very obvious to us all, Thank you for causing patriots to come and answer the call.
